Grant opportunities

The aim of European RFMF Metabomeeting 2020 board is to promote participation of Early career scientists. To help young scientists in attending the event, 21 travel grants are available!

Please find below all the information to apply for:

  • 2 European grants provided by RFMF and MPF
  • 2 NMC grants
  • 2 Nordic Metabolomics society grants
  • 5 RFMF grants
  • 5 MPF grants
  • 4 Swiss metabolomics society grants
  • 1 Austrian Proteomics and Metabolomics Association (APMA)

Remark: it will not be possible to combine several grants.

European grants (2):

Since some countries don't have a national or regional network or the network is in a too early stage to offer grants, RFMF, MPF networks propose 2 travel grants.

Eligibility criteria:

  • PhD student or researcher with no more than 5 years post-doctoral research experience.
  • Researchers (>5 years post-PhD) who have taken a career break or have had time in a non-academic role / facility position are eligible as long as their total post-doctoral research experience does not exceed 5 years.
  • Researchers must be based at a European-based research institution with no travel grant provided its regional society/network (see below for details). All nationalities are eligible.

Application checklist:

  1. Name, research institution, job position.
  2. Scientific meeting abstract [1500 words – dependent on abstract submission info]
  3. Two-page CV. Upload pdf.
  4. Total postdoctoral experience time. If you are more than 5-years post-PhD please clarify why you have less than 5 years post-doctoral research experience (e.g. career break, or time in a non-academic or facility role).Maximum of 100 words.
  5. Motivation statement: why do you wish to attend the meeting and what are your career aspirations. Maximum of 500 words.
  6. Are you an Early Career Scientific Board Member for the European RFMF MetaboMeeting 2020. Yes or No.

NMC grants (2):

Eligibility criteria:

  • MSc /PhD student or postdoc researcher with no more than 5 years post-doctoral research experience.

  • Researchers (>5 years post-PhD) who have taken a career break or have had time in a non-academic role / facility position are eligible as long as their total post-doctoral research experience does not exceed 5 years.

  • Working at one of the NMC partner institutions (for this list: www.metabolomicscentre.nl) 

  • Registered for the conference, with submitted abstract for either a talk or a poster

The highest ranking abstracts from researchers working at a NMC partner institution in the evaluation procedure of the conference.

Nordic Metabolomics Society grants (2):

Eligibility criteria:

  • Early career scientists residing in the Nordic region (Denmark, Iceland, Finland, Sweden, Norway).

  • Registered for the conference, with submitted abstract

MPF grants (5):

The Metabolic Profiling Forum (MPF) is pleased to offer five 500GBP bursaries to support early career researchers attending the European RFMF MetaboMeeting 2020.

Eligibility criteria:

  • PhD student or researcher with no more than 5 years post-doctoral research experience.
  • Researchers (<5 years post-PhD) who have taken a career break or have had time in a non-academic role / facility position are eligible as long as their total post-doctoral research experience does not exceed 5 years.
  • Researchers must be based at a European-based research institution. All nationalities are eligible.

Swiss Metabolomics Society grants (4):

The Swiss Metabolomics Society will attribute 4 supportive grants of each up to 250 euros corresponding to the regular fees of an Early career attendee.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Within 5 years of obtaining highest degree
  • Members of a Swiss laboratory involved in metabolomics
  • Registered to attend the conference
  • Attend the conference in person and present the awarded abstract.

How to apply:

Abstract that are submitted for grants has to be sent to the President of the Swiss Metabolomics Society (SMS) : S. Rudaz (serge.rudaz@unige.ch) and will be reviewed by the SMS Board.

Austrian Proteomics and Metabolomics Association (1):

Eligibility criteria:

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • PhD/Master student, PhD degree ≤ 2 years ago (confirmation of enrolment)
  • APMA membership fee paid
  • Short CV and motivation statement
  • Accepted abstract as first author for the conference
  • Amount will be bank-transferred according to travel cost receipts after proof of attendance
